Six Major Benefits for "TA" Series Pump Users
Heavy Duty Casing For Greater Strength Extra heavy construction of the pump casing provides greater structural integrity and
reduces the risk of distortion. The pump feet are cast integrally with the bottom half of
the volute casing and extended to provide support to the inserts which carry the pump
bearings. With the top half of the casing removed, the complete pump rotating assembly can be
withdrawn without disturbing the piping system. Pump inlet and outlet flanges are cast in
the bottom half casing. Flanges and casing are tapped and plugged for gauge and priming
connections. An air release valve and flushing connections are provided in the upper
casing. The top and bottom half casings are aligned by dowels, sealed by a gasket and
bolted together. High Efficiency Impeller The impeller is generally of the double-entry type with Francis vanes, keyed to the
shaft and locked in position. The impeller hubs are designed to accommodate impeller wear
rings, if required. Impellers are balanced dynamically and hydraulically. Passage ways are
smoothed for maximum efficiency.
Maintenance is Easy and Fast
With the introduction of the "TA" Series Horizontal Split Case Pump designs, Taco continues to expand its leadership in the design of centrifugal pumps for commercial HVAC and industrial applications. Taco can truly be the single source for all your pumping needs.
Over 300 models, ranging from 1/40 HP to 400 HP now offer the maximum flexibility to select the optimum pump design for the specific system requirements.
The full range of Taco products is more than pumps. Taco is also your single source company for a wide variety of HVAC and other hydronic specialty components including; heat transfer equipment, diaphragm tanks, flow measurement products and more.
The "TA" Series Split Case Pump model represents a major advance in pump design. By utilizing a new modular construction technique, pump performance from 60 GPM up to 6,000 GPM is available from just three basic bearing and shaft modules.
Modular construction results in:
- Multiple seal and construction options for application flexibility.
- Simplified maintenance.
- Design flexibility to accommodate future performance needs.
TA Pumps are available in capacities up to 5,000 GPM at heads up to 300 Ft. Product Selection and Specification is simplified through the use of the TacoNet Software System. For specific selection/application information, please download the TacoNet Software

Furnish and install centrifugal double suction single stage horizontal split case pump(s) with the capacities and characteristics as shown on the plans. Pumps shall be Taco model TA or approved equal.
Pump volute or casing shall be of class 30 cast iron designed for 300 psi working pressure with integrally cast mounting feet. Pump flanges shall be drilled to (125)(250) ANSI flanges. The pump shall be fitted with replaceable bronze wear rings flanged to insure alignment and doweled to prevent movement, drilled and tapped for gauge ports at both the suction and discharge flanges and for drain and vent ports. The casing shall be split horizontally to allow removal of the top half of the casing which allows complete removal of the rotating assembly without disturbing the system piping.
The impeller shall be bronze with Francis vanes for hydraulic balancing. The impeller shall be dynamically balanced and shall be fitted to the shaft with a key. The pump shaft shall be high tensile steel with removable bronze (or optional stainless steel) shaft sleeves for mechanical seal or stainless steel sleeve for soft packed gland seals. If no shaft sleeve is furnished, the shaft shall be stainless steel. The cast iron pump bearing housing shall have two heavy duty regreasable ball bearings locked in position and replaceable without disturbing the piping connections.
Pump shall have positive external seal flushing lines. Any mechanical seal pump used on an open system shall be furnished with two Purocell #900 replaceable cartridge filters with shut-off isolation valve installed in the seal flushing line. The filter shall have the ability to remove particles down to five microns in size.
The base shall be made of structural steel and incorporate a guide rail system to allow the pump and motor to be slid apart for service without risking major misalignment or disturbing the piping. The base shall also include a built-in drain pan to collect all condensation and seal leakage. A flexible coupler shall connect the pump to the motor and shall be covered by a coupler guard. Contractor shall level and grout each pump according to the manufacturers recommendations to insure proper alignment prior to operation.
Pump shall be furnished with EPT Ni-Resist rated to 250 Deg. F. or one of the following optional sealing arrangements:
